[That's a question that requires a long explanation, and Castiel isn't willing to type it out, and so after some fumbling (that causes a delayed response), he switches from text to audio.

He decides to start with Heaven. All of his resentful feelings aside, he's more familiar with it than Hell.]

Heaven is...

For humans, it's a place of eternal rest and bliss. Each person has their own personal Heaven which is tailored to their needs, but anyone who's in Heaven is in such a state of peace that they're oblivious to anything else, to what's happening on Earth.

Ignorance is bliss, in other words.

[Castiel doesn't try to sell it as anything, but simply tells it how it is. He's not interested in lying to anyone, or making Heaven out to be something different.]

[ Isaac switches over to audio as well, if Castiel preferred it, Isaac would follow his lead.

He listens to the angel's words, and even if they may sound a bit tight, Isaac doesn't question it. Because he is curious, this is both bizarre and thrilling to learn. And maybe it means that Cam, his mom, his dad and everyone else that he's cared about that's died are happy in heaven. ]

So, they're happy? They're okay... [ There's relief in his voice, because in all honesty Isaac wasn't even sure there was a heaven. ]

What about hell?

[Happy and okay, yes, Castiel can say that those souls in Heaven are that with some level of confidence. It's not the sort of happiness that some are looking for, but Heaven is meant to be a time of rest after the trials of life.

Unsurprisingly, Isaac also wants to know about Hell. Castiel lets out a breath, wondering where to even start.]

It's the opposite, of course. Souls are tortured there -- and made to torture others -- until they become so twisted and decayed that there's no hope for them. They become demons.

[Yes, like those very same demons wandering around the mansion.]

What causes someone to go to hell? Am - am I going to because I'm not human anymore?

[ It's not much of an answer to what Castiel said, really an answer can't be a question but... ]

Would my dad - would he...?

[It's a question that Castiel might have worried more over answering if he had more tact, but seeing how Isaac wants to know, he's going to be direct with him.]

You would go to Purgatory. All monsters go there.

[At least where Castiel is from. He can't be certain they're from the same version of Earth.]

I would have to know more about your father before I could presume to guess where he might go.

Purgatory. Is that bad?

[ It doesn't sound good. And being called a monster doesn't sit well with him but he doesn't say anything. ]

Maybe I'll tell you about him sometime.

[ Probably not. ]

[How to explain Purgatory? Castiel hesitates for a moment, complete silence on the line as he considers how much to say. It's not something that's supposed to be shared with the living, but he has to tell Isaac something.]

It's not a pleasant place. It's hunt or be hunted. It's miles and miles of forest and mountains and filled with bloodthirsty souls.

[There is some kind of upside to this, though, which he soon adds.]

But that's only the case where I come from. Your world could be very different.

[ Isaac goes deathly silent, hunt or be hunted. That's literally all his life is ever going to be, even after he dies... Even after he dies he'll still be hunted.

He sucks in a wavering breath, trying to process what he's just heard. But then Castiel seems to try to do damage control and it doesn't even make him feel better. ]

Can you die in purgatory? Wouldn't that defeat the point?

[That's a question Castiel had pondered over while trapped in that place himself. What happened to someone who died in a place that was already meant for the dead?

Castiel had a theory about that, and so he shares it.]

I can't be certain, but I think it's much like this place. If you die, you eventually come back.

[Doomed to die and revive over and over again for eternity. No, it's not a pleasant fate.]

Oh... Great. So it's messed up even after death...

[ Hear that sigh, Castiel? ]

[Castiel definitely hears that sigh. He didn't intend to be the bearer of bad news, but he also wasn't going to lie to Isaac.]
