Hey Cas, got your feathery ears on?

[Nope, not even close. Dean seems to get more creative and inappropriate with each subsequent prayer.

Just a few moments after her call, Castiel appears at Ellen's side with a rustle of feathers. He shifts to face her, looking first for any injuries or other signs of distress.]

Always. What did you need?

[She pulls out a pencil and a piece of paper.]

Angel warding. Better to get it now than after the next damned time this place screws with us.

Of course.

[This is something that Castiel should have covered with Ellen some time ago. He had always assumed Sam or Dean had taught her, but either way, he can fix this oversight now.

He takes a seat at her desk and grabs for the pencil.]

The first thing to keep in mind is that these sigils have to be made with blood. Human or angel blood will work. They're activated with touch, and they will banish an angel and keep them away from you at least temporarily, so it's best to use them if you're being threatened.

[Which could easily happen here, considering their company.]

It have to be fresh or can I put it up and let it dry and then use it as needed?

[Because she really, really doesn't want to find out the hard way that it doesn't work unless it's fresh.]

It's better to use it fresh.

[In fact, Castiel's never heard of the other method ever being tried, which leads him to believe that it wouldn't be as effective.]

You're welcome to test the other way, though, if you want to be certain.

[Castiel isn't entirely thrilled at the prospect of being part of such an experiment, but if it's important for Ellen to know, then he'll do it.]

[ Ellen reaches out and puts a hand on Castiel's shoulder. ]

What does it do to you, if I test it?

Normally it would send me back to Heaven.

[Just as demons can be sent back to Hell with an exorcism.]

Here, I don't know. It may hurtle me to a distant part of Wonderland.

[It won't be pleasant, but it also won't kill him, so he doesn't mind testing it.]

[She shakes her head.]

Then I'll worry about them if I need them. Don't wanna take a chance with my favorite angel.

[Castiel actually quirks a playful smile at that. Is he truly her favorite? Granted, it's not like the other angels here are giving him a run for his money in that department. Samandriel, perhaps, but he's been... absent.

Castiel continues drawing and then hands the notebook over to her.]

It's not nearly as large or complex as a devil's trap, thankfully. [The amount of blood that would be needed for that would probably run the risk of killing a human.]

[ She studies the sigils for a moment, before nodding. ]

Of course. Now, there are other wards that can be placed on a building or other structure to keep angels out of it.

[He pulls the journal back to him and starts drawing again. There are a number of different symbols that he starts sketching out neatly and quickly, flipping to a new page whenever he runs out of space.]

[Ellen watches his neat writing, knowing that she will end up memorizing these too. she always does.]

These angel-specific, or just in general?

It's for angels in general. If you use them, I'll also be kept out of the area in question. But if that's what has to be done, then so be it.

[This had to do with keeping safe, and Castiel doesn't want Ellen or any of the other hunters holding back on his account. They can always find other places to meet, outside of their safe areas. With Lucifer and Michael both here, they shouldn't take any chances.]

Alright. Well, hopefully it won't come to that.

[ Because she likes Cas and the thought of keeping him out just because of his older brothers didn't sit right with her. Things like that never do. ]

[Castiel nods as his only response to that, continuing to sketch out the most useful wards for Ellen until he thinks she's got a sufficient amount to work with. It's going to take her some time to perfect drawing the symbols, on top of memorizing them, so this should do for now.]

Any other questions? [He inquires as he rips out the pages he drew and wrote on and hands them to her.]
